In memory of his mother Joyce, Matthew Wissinger has devoted his energy to passionately advocate for people living with Multiple Sclerosis, finding ways to improve their lives and give them hope for a better tomorrow. Our Mission

helpTHOSE LIVING NOW WITH MS, ALS

  MS happens to families, not just to individuals. When a person is diagnosed with MS, there is immediate impact on all who love them. Family members may experience similar emotions to the person with MS as they adapt to MS in their lives –fear, guilt, anger, denial, grief, anxiety.

   I should know first hand, as my beloved mother suffered from this terrible disease for 55 years. One of my favorite memories as a child was riding my bike with my mom beside me.  I also remember at the age of 12 when my mother had to hang up the bike forever because her balance was off and was unable to ride anymore. Shortly after, my mom suffered her first major relapse which had caused her to be bedridden for quite some time.  Unfortunately, she never did fully recover from that attack and due to the progression of the disease, my mother became paralyzed.

  I knew from a young age that this was going to be my mission, to help those suffering from MS and their families find comfort in the knowledge that they are not alone in this fight. 

Wissinger House is committed to help people living with MS and their families through rent subsidies, support groups outings, help with yard work and snow removal.
